VISION:

The Bible says that without vision the people perish (Proverbs 29:18). We
believe that we have a vision that God gave us. It is simple yet cannot be
realized without the supernatural power of God.

Our vision is to be fully Devoted to Jesus Christ and to one another as the family
of God; Dedicated to the Word of God and Determined to share the love of God
with all who are in need.

That’s the type of people we want to be - totally sold out for Jesus. Our vision
is great and we hope, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to realize this vision by
concentrating on our Purpose and Core Values.

PURPOSE:

We believe the local church has five purposes: to WORSHIP God, to
FELLOWSHIP with each other, to grow in DISCIPLESHIP*, to SERVE the needs
of others, and to fervently SHARE the Good News of Jesus Christ.

In addition, we believe that God has given us some very specific purposes to
fulfill in our communities. Go ahead! Ask us about it! We would love to tell
you.

Discipleship simply means that a person who has chosen to follow Jesus will
grow in that relationship—seeking to become more and more mature and
secure in their faith.

CORE VALUES:

We believe that followers of Jesus should desire continuous growth.
We believe that the church is a community of stewards using their gifts and
resources to ultimately glorify God.
We believe prayer is essential in and for all things
We believe that God loves lost people, therefore so should we. Furthermore
because this is true, the church should manifest a spirit of love and
acceptance rather than a spirit of judgment.
We believe that the gospel has the power to change lives

STRATEGY:

B - Believers are Ministers
A - Affinity Groups (Small Groups)
P - Practical Prayer
T - Target the Lost
I - Individual Life Growth
S - Sensible Preaching
T - Thrilling Worship

The Evangelical Baptist Church was
first organized in 1956 to be an agent
of Christian witness in the town of
Sharon, Massachusetts.
Wow! That sounds official, but that
was our purpose then and still is
now.
Things have changed a lot since 1956
but the gospel hasn’t. People are still
saved by faith in Jesus. That is why
Jesus is our central focus in
everything that we do.
We hope you will feel welcome with
us whatever your background simply
because Jesus first welcomed us.
We provide Sunday School for all
ages at 9:30 Am every Sunday (except
in the summer.) Presently, in addition
to the children and teen classes,
there are a number of adult classes
on different topics. Come and study
God’s Word with us over a cup of
coffee.
Our worship service meets at 11 Am
following Sunday School. (10 AM
summer).
Our services can be described as a
blend of contemporary and traditional
styles. Musically we use both
traditional hymns and contemporary
praise music to aid our ‘worship
experience.’ The services are warm
and described by some as ‘laid-back,’
though the presence of God is
strongly felt.
Though we only have one worship
service presently, it is our desire that
worship takes place in every aspect
of our church and our lives.
Small group Bible studies occur
throughout the week at various
locations and on a variety of topics.
This is an area of growth for our
church and we hope to accommodate
your need for fellowship and spiritual
growth through this exciting
ministry.
At EBC we offer all kinds of exciting
and relevant programs for kids of all
ages. Our senior and junior high
youth groups meet regularly
throughout the month for fellowship,
food, fun and of course the study of
God’s Word.
In addition, we have a Bible Club
program that meets the needs of K
through 5th grade children.
You may have noticed that our youth
are very involved in the life of the
church and are not treated as second
class members. You will often find
teens leading worship, working the
sound board and ministering to
younger children.
